Abstract
In this case, students are introduced to community consultation and participation in the development, construction, operation, and closure of a mine on First Nation lands. The case describes the resource sharing protocol MOU between two First Nations to manage their collective interests, as well as the participation agreement they signed with New Gold to establish the New Afton Mine. The case highlights some of the issues to be considered in proceeding with resource development projects, as well as some of the strategies to facilitate communication between stakeholders.
